Goodbye Summer...Hello Coffee

September signals the end of summer, the shift of seasons, and the start of school, but extreme weather and continuing pandemic concerns are adding complexity and uncertainty to the beginning of fall. Wherever you are and however you’re starting your September, here are some coffees to brighten and enrich your days, wake you up and get you going.

Easy Sunrise, September's Coffee of the Month, features a soft floral aroma followed by a burst of blueberry and lemon that melts into a lingering cocoa finish. Lively enough to jump start your brain and smooth enough to enjoy all day. Add cream for a lovely dessert coffee that's perfect with breakfast pastry or fall apple pie. Available all month in full and 1/2 roast bags.

Those who enjoy a smooth and rich start to the day, should try September’s Exploration Coffee, Sumatra Harimau Tiger. A Mandeling processed Sumatran, very smooth and heavy bodied with herbal notes and toffee sweetness. The classic Indonesian coffee—bold, rich and sweet—Sumatrans are famous for their heavy, syrupy body. Half roast bags, roasted at a Vienna roast level to heighten body and richness, will be available all September.

And if you’re looking for a Roaster Gold worthy, rich and sweet Central American treat to accompany long work days, our El Salvador Chalate coffee is back! The new crop of this deservedly popular coffee is now available! Lively, sweet and surprisingly complex, this microlot coffee from Finca Buena Vista features cocoa and macadamia nut notes brightened by a splash of grapefruit and perfumed with the spicy citrus and floral notes of cascade hops. Add a lingering cocoa butter finish for a coffee that's outstanding black or add cream for an even richer, sweeter cup. Try El Salvador Chalate at a light City or medium Full City roast to heighten lively citrus and herbal notes, Vienna roast or darker for an even sweeter, richer cup.

This coming Monday, September 6th, is Labor Day. We will be closed from noon on Friday, September 3rd, until 9 am Tuesday, September 7th. All orders received over the three day weekend will be roasted and mailed on Tuesday.
