Our new coffees: Burundi Gatare Kayanza and Organic Rwanda Gishamwana Island

Carrie Masek

Africa: the birthplace of both mankind and coffee. Some of the finest coffees in the world come from Africa, and we are particularly proud of the two we just received, Burundi Gatare Kayanza and Organic Rwanda Gishamwana Island.

Burundi Gatare Kayanza is a microlot coffee that epitomizes why we love about African coffees. It's sweetly floral, like a good Ethiopian, but also citrus bright, like a classic Kenyan. Add to that a wonderful rich, chocolaty finish, and you have everything you could want in a great cup of coffee.

We like our new Burundi so much, we're offering it as our Monthly ½ Roast. For the rest of December, you try a ½ roast of this wonderful coffee for only $10.

You can learn more about Burundi Gatare Kayanza by clicking here.

As much as we love our new Burundi, we love Organic Rwanda Gishamwana Island even more. Rwanda Gishamwana Island is one of the smoothest, silkiest coffees we've ever had. The flavor is tart and tangy balanced by floral and sage sweetness. We also taste hints of lime, lemon grass, and sweet spice. The finish is rich and clean and lingers on the tongue, encouraging another sip. This is a coffee we could happily drink all day, ever day.

Organic Rwanda Gishamwana Island is also organically certified. An island in middle of Rwanda's Lake Kivu, Gishamwana is naturally isolated from many of the pests that plague other coffee farms in the region. You can go here to find out even more about the island and its amazing coffee.

One of the great things about the coffee business is the more high quality coffee we buy, the more, even better coffees we discover. Check out our blog next week to learn about some of our other amazing new coffees.
