Ask the Roaster (Update): Are you still roasting coffee? Answer: Yes!
Carrie Masek
Governor J. B. Pritzker announced a Stay at Home order last Friday, March 20, that closed all non-essential businesses in Illinois until at least April 7. Coffee roasting and all other food manufacturing are considered essential industries. We will continue custom roasting coffee and shipping it fresh to our customers’ doors throughout the duration of the Stay at Home order. This is the weekly update to let you know how it’s going.
A couple of weeks ago, we implemented the changes necessary to continue doing business during the pandemic. So far, those measures have been successful. All of us here are healthy and we’ve restructured our roasting process so only one of us is in the roasting room at a time. That lowers the possibility of sharing the virus between members of our team, increasing our chances of staying healthy. With only one of us roasting, turn around on orders may be slower. It may take us an extra day to roast your coffee, but we will always mail your coffee to you within 24 hours of roasting.
Thank you to all of you for understanding and for the support you have shown us in these fraught times. More changes may become necessary, but as long as we’re able, we’ll continue to provide the best possible coffee, roasted to your order and delivered fresh.
Even in difficult times, life is better with good coffee.
How are you weathering the changes brought on by the battle against Covid-19? Please join the conversation and let us know. You can share your thoughts on the Facebook thread or in a comment on this blog. Or, if you have thoughts about coffee you’d like to share with the wider world, leave us a coffee review on Google or on your favorite review site. Not only do we value your opinions, but reviews help more people find us. Help us connect coffee lovers to fresh, quality coffee!
We wish all our customers good health and calm in this anxious time.
