January ended in a deep freeze, but at least here in the Midwest, the weather’s getting warmer. A good thing, too! There’s a lot going on in February, a month known for grumpy groundhogs, parties, parades, and, of course, Valentines Day. It’s even Black History month! The Polar Vortex has come again to the Chicago area! Today isn’t too bad (temperatures in the low single digits with negative windchills), but tomorrow and the next day (Wednesday and Thursday) are going to be cold. None of us want to venture out tomorrow when the high temperature is expected to be only -12 degrees F (-46 F with windchill). Thursday may not be much better, but we don’t know at this point. As a result, the orders we receive after we finish roasting today (around noon) will be roasted and mailed after the temperature rises into positive degrees F, hopefully Thursday, but we may need to wait until Friday. Sorry for any inconvenience!

We have new coffee! Thanks to some coffees coming early, and others showing up later than expected, we brought in a record number of coffees last week. We're about half done cupping them and putting them away, but decided to let you know about them as we go. This post is the first of two about our new coffees.

It’s already 2019 and this year is looking like a great year for coffee. Kona is coming early (we’ll let you know when the new crop’s here), the Indonesian coffees are looking good as are the new crop coffees from our favorite origins in South America. Any way you look at it, January 2019 is a great time for coffee!
