Valentine to Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Lake Abaya
Carrie Masek
We decided it would be fun to ask everyone in the Coffee by the Roast family to let us know the coffee they love best, so we’d be sure to post a Valentine to everyone’s favorite. Carrie got back to us first, with Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Lake Abaya.
Coffee grows wild on the hills of Ethiopia, and according to legend, the first person to discover how to roast and brew coffee was an Ethiopian goatherd named Kaldi. The coffee he drank was probably closer to our Ethiopia Queen City Harrar, but Carrie loves the clean, rich flavor and floral aroma of the washed coffees from Yirgacheffe. Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Lake Abaya is good roasted anywhere from a light City roast level to the much darker Northern Italian roast level. Carrie likes it best light and lively at a City. Here’s our Valentine to Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Lake Abaya:
Every sip is smooth and sweet,
Fresh, warm dessert, my favorite treat.
Like lemon cake with caramel,
Jasmine flowers in your smell,
Yirgacheffe, you taste divine,
An Ethiopian Valentine.
