Great coffee, hot or cold, for June and Father's Day

Carrie Masek

Memorial Day is behind us and Father's Day is coming up fast.  June is a great month for coffee, especially if you have a father like mine who couldn't imagine a day without at least a pot.  Here are some ideas on how to make Dad's coffee special.

If he enjoys lively breakfast coffee, try Cotton Candy Coffee, our Coffee of the Month for June. As bright as an early summer morning, Cotton Candy Coffee hits the tongue with a spritz of citrus that melts into a refreshing finish. It's light and smooth enough to drink throughout a long summer day. Available all month in both full and 1/2 roast pouches.

If your dad prefers bolder coffee, or enjoys Cold Brew, he'll love June's Monthly 1/2 Roast special, Organic Bali Kintamani.  Roasted at a Northern Italian roast level to heighten its intense aroma and sweet, complex flavor, Organic Bali Kintamani brews into a wonderful after dinner coffee. It's also great brewed cold and served iced on hot summer afternoons.

In honor of Father's Day, I thought I'd share my favorite story about my father and coffee.  As I mentioned earlier, Daddy drank at least a pot every day.  He didn't mind if it sat on a burner getting thicker and more tar-like by the hour, as long as it was hot and black, he loved it.  His favorite cup, though, was always the first of the day.  He sometime skipped breakfast; he never skipped coffee.

When I was about seven, I decided I to try some and stole a sip when I thought he wasn't looking.  Silly me!  Of course my father noticed, but instead of getting mad, he smiled at the face I made at his strong, black coffee and suggested I take mine with milk and sugar.  I liked the milky, sweet coffee much better, and Daddy and I shared coffee at breakfast through the rest of my childhood.

What kind of coffee does your dad love? Do you have a father related coffee story to share?  If so, we'd love to hear it.  You can email the story to us at mail@coffeebytheroast.com or send it through our Contact Us page.  Please let me know if we can share the story with other readers of our blog.  Sharing stories is almost as much fun as sharing coffee!

And finally, to thank the readers of this blog, we're offering a free 1/2 roast of Cotton Candy Coffee with your first order of the month.  Just type June in the box for Additional Instructions, and we'll include the 1/2 roast of coffee at no additional charge.

Thanks!
