Friday is Veterans Day

Armies may march on their stomachs, but the American army has been fueled by coffee since the Civil War. NPR had an fascinating article about coffee and our troops. In honor of Veterans Day, we'd like to share it along with a family story about coffee and WWI.
Paul's grandfather Mehigan fought in the trenches in WWI. He used to say that soldiers woke up in hell every morning, but at least they had good coffee. During WWI, the US army placed roasters in the trenches and served the troops high quality, fresh roasted coffee every day. That coffee got Grandfather Mehigan through the war, and having good coffee every morning became an important part of his day for the rest of his life.
To veterans everywhere: From all of us here at Coffee by the Roast, thank you!
Since post offices will be closed Friday for Veterans Day, any coffee orders we receive before noon on Friday will be mailed Saturday morning. If you're running low on coffee, please order early in the week to avoid any delay.
