Valentine to El Salvador Chalate
Carrie Masek
Yesterday, this blog featured Catie’s valentine to espresso. Since most folks don’t own an espresso machine or a moka pot, she also sent us a valentine to her favorite coffee to brew in either a drip machine or a French Press, El Salvador Chalate.
El Salvador Chalate wowed us before before the first taste. Many other Central American coffees are smooth and sweet with a rich finish. El Salvador Chalate is all that plus it has a very lively, almost African, aroma. The lively perfume of sweet floral and spicy citrus reminds us of cascade hops. The resulting cup is beautifully smooth and complex, with sweet, lively and rich notes blending in every sip.
Here’s Catie’s valentine to El Salvador Chalate:
As you pour your morning sip
Breathe deep, before you drink it up.
The floral scent of cascade hops,
Perfumes the brew in every cup.
Taste chocolate macadamians
With grapefruit spark and citrus spice,
The finish, cocoa butter smooth,
Makes every cup a paradise.
