Happy New Year!
Carrie Masek
It's the start of a new decade and 2020 is looking like a great year for coffee. The new crop of Indonesian coffees are coming in as are the new crop coffees from our favorite origins in South America. Though some of our old favorites won't be available this year, we have new favorites to share.
Those who enjoy a bold start to their morning, will enjoy January’s Coffee of the Month, Midwinter’s Brew. A smooth, full-bodied coffee with dried fruit sweetness and a hint of spice, Midwinter’s Brew is bold enough to warm the coldest winter morning and smooth enough to enjoy all day. Available all month in both full and 1/2 roast pouches.
Our Exploration Coffee for January is smooth, full-bodied Organic PNG Timuza. Roasted to a City to bring out coriander brightness and chocolate richness, Organic PNG Timuza is lively enough to brighten the darkest winter days. You can learn more about this organically certified co-op coffee in an upcoming Spotlight, but for now, Organic PNG Timuza will be available in both full and 1/2 roast pouches through January.
We really like our new coffee from Papua New Guinea, but we were sorry to learn that our all-time favorite PNG coffee, New Guinea Kimel, won't be available this season. The importer didn't know why, but the beans just didn’t cup to our standards this year. That happens in the coffee business, and we're hoping by next year, New Guinea Kimel will be back to the same high quality we've come to expect.
Another coffee we’re saying good-bye to (at least for now) is Safe Water Coffee. Thank you to everyone who tried this delicious blend of African coffees. We raised enough money to bring fresh, clean drinking water to a family in the slums of Nairobi. Again, thanks!
Those who enjoy helping others while drinking good coffee should keep an eye on this blog. We’ll have a new donation coffee soon.
One more new thing for the New Year, as of last month, we now offer Gift Cards, for those who’d like to give the gift of coffee choice to the coffee lovers in their lives. You buy the card (starting at $25) and they get to choose their coffee(s). They receive a digital code and any value left over after they use it to buy coffee will be there for their next order. If they want more coffee, no problem! The website will just charge the difference. Our New Year’s resolution for 2020 is to make it easy for everyone who loves coffee to enjoy the very best coffee every single day.
Do you have a New Year's resolution for 2020? Please join the conversation and share your thoughts on the Facebook thread or in a comment on this blog. Or, if you'd like to share your opinions with the wider world, leave us a coffee review on Google or on your favorite review site. Not only do we value your opinions, but reviews help more people find us. Help us connect coffee lovers to fresh, quality coffee!
And finally, to thank the readers of this blog, we’re offering a free 1/2 roast of Midwinter’s Brew with your first order of the month. Just write, “January,” in the box for Additional Instructions and we’ll throw in the 1/2 roast pouch at no extra charge.
Sharing coffee is our favorite way to celebrate the new year.
Have a great one!
