Bright Pumpkin Spice mix
Carrie Masek
It's October, and a trip to any coffee shop or grocery store makes it clear that October is Pumpkin Spice season. Most of the ready to go Pumpkin Spice options are full of preservatives, fat and sugar, but Catie has come up with Pumpkin Spice for those who'd rather enjoy a healthier take on the seasonal favorite.
She sent us three recipes and this blog features the spice itself. Here's Catie's recipe for Bright Pumpkin Spice:

Bright Pumpkin Spice (all spices pre-ground)
Makes 1/4 cup + 2 Tb
Ingredients:
3 Tb cinnamon
2 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp ginger
1 1/2 tsp allspice
1 1/2 tsp clove
1 tsp anise
Steps:
1. If you have a spice mill, grind your cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, clove and anise. Grind your coffee/espresso to a fine/espresso grind.
2. Blend all spices in a small mixing bowl. (small forks or whisks work great!)
3. Store in an air tight container and use for all your Pumpkin Spice cooking and baking needs!

The next coffee recipe blog will feature Catie's favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe.
