Holiday Mailing...Give your Coffee more time.
Carrie Masek
Around Thanksgiving, we sent a note about how the USPS can get overwhelmed and slow down near Christmas and asked our customers to order early. We underestimated how slow the mail might go.
The US Postal Service is an amazing organization. Anyone who's lived overseas can appreciate how rare it is for mail to travel as quickly and reliably as it does here in the US. Unfortunately, during the holiday season, the mail often slows due to a huge increase in the numbers of packages and letters. In the past, the slow down resulted in most packages taking an extra day or two, to travel to their destination.
We tracked the packages we mailed on Monday, to see how the slow down was affecting the delivery dates. All but one of the packages took more time than we would have expected. Most took two days longer than usual, and two of the packages are expected to be delivered 3 days late...but they haven't arrived yet.
When ordering coffee for the holidays, either for yourself or for gifts, please assume it will take at least a couple of days longer than usual. If you need coffee to arrive before Christmas, please order it no later than noon, Monday December 18. We'll roast and mail your coffee as quickly as possible. We don't want anyone to be without coffee on Christmas morning.
